carplay regional restrictions

Hi,

I live in Brazil and I got very upset after discovering that I cannot use maps with my carplay enabled stereo. My question is: Is there any way I can bypass this restriction? I bought my iphone in the US, so maybe I can do something about it? Or the region info is embedded in the car's stereo?

Because of this I am considering buying an Android phone :/
